Making Payments
Make sure you pay back your credit on time. It is essential if you want to enjoy the flexibility that borrowing money can offer.
How do I make a payment to my MBNA account?
You can make payments in several ways:
View your standard payment options. If your account is in arrears you can make a payment through our automated payment system, 24 hours a day by calling 1800 546 262. You can also refer to your monthly statement for a list of payment methods.
Top Tip:
If you set up a direct debit for minimum payments, always check to ensure the amount covers the monthly minimum payment amount on your Credit Card Statement. If not, you can either make additional payments or call us on 1800 409 511 to update your direct debit details.
How can I avoid late charges?
As detailed in your terms and conditions, we may charge a fee if your minimum payment has not reached your account by the payment due date. To prevent this, please send your payment 5 business days before the due date. You can check your payments anytime through our secure Online Banking service.
You can avoid late charges by setting up a direct debit. You can do this in Online Banking by requesting a Direct Debit mandate in the payments tab on your account profile. A Direct Debit mandate will then be sent to your address. You can also fill out the Direct Debit mandate sent with your new Credit Card. On the Direct Debit Mandate, you can choose to pay the minimum payment due, the full balance or any other set amount above the minimum.
What happens if I forget to make my payment?
If you forget to make your payment and your account has gone into arrears, you can make one through our automated payment system 24 hours a day by calling 1800 546 262. If you’re over your credit limit and in arrears please make sure your payment covers the excess amount, plus any fees and interest. You may incur fees if you don’t keep up your payments.
